A Story of Surviving, Grieving, and Rebuilding
In 2019, Dot Theisen and her husband were both diagnosed with cancer within six months of each other.
At the time, Dot was in the best shape of her life.
Dot managed to survive her cancer, but her husband did not. And when he died in 2023, Dot stopped taking care of herself.
“In that time, I wasn’t the nicest person to myself,” she commented of how she stopped working out for the better part of a year-and-a-half. Consequently, she weighed 198 pounds.
Then, one day in January, 2025, Dot, at age 58, woke up and knew it was time to make a change.
“He wouldn’t have liked seeing me this way,” she said about her husband.
It was time to get back to doing four or five workouts a week.
By June, Dot was back in the routine of going to the gym regularly and had lost some weight, but she wanted more.
That’s when she came across an advertisement on Facebook for CBG. The ad spoke to her, as it talked about having a body that actually looks like you go to the gym four or five days a week.
“When I heard that advertisement, that’s exactly the way I felt. I wanted to look like I workout, not like I don’t,” she said.
Dot decided to give CBG a shot and was teamed up with Coach Kali Butler, her main goal being to lose weight.
“I told [Coach] Kali I’ll do whatever, but tell me what the best way is to do it,” Dot said.
The first thing Coach Kali noticed was that Dot just wasn’t eating enough, especially when it came to protein.
So, Dot increased her food intake with Coach Kali’s help. Right away, she noticed she had way more energy and her performance in the gym started to improve as well.
As for her weight loss goal, Dot completed the 16-week program under Coach Kali’s tutelage and lost 17 pounds. Best of all, she felt like Coach Kali gave her the tools she needed to continue on her own and continue to have success.
Since then, another month has passed and Dot is down another three pounds and currently weighs 141 pounds. She is down almost 60 pounds since January and her fitness has continued to improve!
Just the other day, Dot jumped up to the pull-up bar and began stringing together toes-to-bar. This is a movement she hadn’t done since before she was diagnosed with cancer six years ago.
“Things like that are happening more frequently,” she said.
Among her amazing accomplishments, she has been going for 5 and 10 km runs and is moving at a pace she never would have been able to keep in the past.
“I’m out running my friend who is a runner. She’s like, ‘I can’t even keep up with you,’” Dot said proudly.
The CBG Difference
Dot has had success through the years losing weight trying all kinds of different methods from Paleo to intermittent fasting. The difference with CBG is how it has helped her build habits that have become almost second nature.
“When I go to eat, I get my protein out and then I think, ‘Oh I need a healthy fat.’ It’s in my head. It’s almost automatic now,” she said.
She applauded CBG by adding: “The program is just so easy to follow. And it’s worth it.”
